The ongoing evolution of technological developments on the Cocon Fiber Platform

As many know, for over 23 years, Speer IT has been committed to a future where asset management solutions play a crucial role in the effective sharing and utilisation of data. Our commitment to innovation and progress led to the creation of the Cocon Fiber Platform two years ago. In doing so, we laid a solid foundation for transforming the way data is shared within asset management and between different client applications.

We believe the Cocon Fiber Platform is not just a tool, but rather represents a holistic approach that enables organisations to make best use of their assets and data. And that is why we continue to develop the platform.

In a recent conversation with Rogier Schrama, IT architect at Speer IT, he provided insight into recent developments on the Cocon Fiber Platform.

A new phase: Cocon Fiber platform in a nutshell

The Cocon Fiber Platform is more than an upgrade; it represents the next phase in the evolution of Speer IT‘s fibre registration system. “Fully cloud-native with a strong focus on API deployment, this innovative platform offers a flexible and scalable solution for organisations striving for efficient asset management,” explains Schrama.

Three main categories of APIs

Schrama explains that the Cocon Fiber Platform is now supported by three main categories of APIs that take the user experience to a new level.

  1. Synchronisation API: This API allows customers to synchronise information about assets in Cocon with their own systems so that this information is readily available there. Schrama stresses, “This opens the door for customers to perform their local analyses better and faster through this seamless integration.”
  2. Read-only API: This is aimed at on-demand querying of Cocon Fiber. This WFS variant is suitable for geographic visualisation of assets and related information. The WFS APIs let users display specific parts of the network in applications that support WFS. “This technology adds an extra layer of actual data on their own maps,” explains Schrama.
  3. API for changes in Cocon Fiber: The third category goes further by letting customers actually make changes in Cocon via APIs. All this while monitoring the relevant business rules to continuously ensure data quality and integrity. This allows, for example, post-connections to be automated, resulting in efficiency and streamlined recording of such events via the API.

Concrete applications and benefits

From synchronisation for analytics to integration into proprietary systems and processes, e.g. by automating post-connections, Schrama underlines that progress comes not only from technological developments, but also from a deep understanding of user needs and the rapidly changing business environment. In our follow-up series, we will elaborate on specific examples of projects we have realised in collaboration with customers or partners.

Future-proof positioning

In a world where connectivity and data management are crucial, Schrama argues that Cocon Fiber is exceptionally positioning itself as a forward-thinking platform. The platform not only meets today’s requirements but is also ready for the challenges of the future.

Speer IT remains committed to innovation, keeping Cocon Fiber a dynamic and indispensable solution for organisations striving to advance in their digitalisation.
